The Knock On Effect.

This blog is about my inspirations right? So i thought it is only right that I share with you the most inspirational young woman i’ve known of…

www.theknockoneffect.wordpress.com

Please visit, and read the amazing story about a young woman who gave the bravest, most inspiring fight against cancer…

I never had the privilege of really getting to know Rosie, she was what you would class as a ‘facebook friend’ however, I followed her blogs, checking everyday on her progress.. The effect she had on me was so strong that when I was on holiday a couple of weeks ago, I heard the news that Rosie had passed away.. I broke down in tears and felt such devastation for her friends and family. I can’t begin imagine how they must feel.

So yesterday, I went to Rosie’s funeral. A beautiful ceremony for a beautiful girl..

Tony Walsh, the poet actually held the service… And he had written the most beautiful poem for Rosie.. It was the first time i’d ever seen a poet actually ‘perform’.. To be honest, i’d never really understood the fascination in poetry.. but I was overwhelmed by his talent.

I’ve done a little bit of stalking on him today, and fell in love with one of his previous poem’s:

It reminds me of the Sunscreen song… and also of Rosie, as she lived 19 years to the full.

What is happening to me?

What is happening to me?

I’ve just spend the last of my money on a dead scorpion and a dung beetle. I’m also planning on turning dead peoples ashes into glass. I’ve been collecting bits of bones where the calcium has almost crystallised into this beautiful green mess.  Roadkill is becoming suddenly so much more interesting.  All this ‘All work & No Play’ malarkey is driving me crazy. At what point should I start worrying? .

'To Preserve'

Finally, I’ve found my inspiration. I’ve been playing with ceramic slip today- to be honest I don’t have a clue what I’m doing, I was too excited to research techniques and what not, and just started playing, dipping and dunking. Its seems to be going ok at the moment, except for some dried roses which are very resistant. I’m so lucky that my mum has a small kiln that I can use this summer, and I’m definitely going to take advantage of it, starting with ceramics , and moving onto glass. I still can’t stop thinking about jewellery, so I think it’s time for me to accept that this is where my project will be heading. I want to preserve objects, memories ,possibly even ashes. My cat brought my mum a lovely little birds leg, which I can see as an interesting pendant… Claire Boneham- if your reading this I hope your proud of me ;)
